Safety Essentials for Managers
Safety Essentials for Managers is a 50-minute course designed to introduce managers to their responsibilities in the area of managing the health and safety of employees.
The course covers the importance of risk assessment, avoiding accidents and the Health and Safety policy document.
An often over-looked role of the manager is the supervision of employee safety behaviour. Overseeing employee safety is a key responsibility of managers and most managers receive little or no formal training in this area. This course is designed to give managers the tools they need.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, managers should be able to demonstrate the following:
- A basic knowledge of Health and Safety law
- Be aware of the importance of a health and safety statement and what a manager’s responsibilities are in this area
- Understand the importance of reporting, investigating and recording accidents
- How to conduct a risk assessment of the workplace
- Be aware of a manager’s role in dealing with emergencies
- Understand the importance of training new employees and providing on-going training to promote health and safety in the workplace
