NUI Certificate in Counselling Skills
The NUI Certificate in Counselling Skills introduces participants to the communication skills central to human relationships. It does not aim to train people in the field of therapeutic counselling.
This course seeks to provide you with:
(1) an understanding of the notion of counselling skills and to be able to differentiate it from the activity of counselling,
(2) the capacity to identify and demonstrate key listening skills within appropriate models and frameworks,
(3) a deeper understanding of how you function, behave and reflect in relationships in a group setting,
(4) an understanding of the key principles of the ethical use of counselling in non-professional settings.
Participants must be 23 years or over. Prospective students should be aware that participation on this course can generate strong emotions and feelings.
