ITEC Aromatherapy Course

ITEC awards Diplomas which increase your employment prospects and equip you to start your own business. ITEC Diplomas are recognised in Ireland and Europe.

The use of essential oils adds a new dimension to the massage experience for both client and therapist. This course teaches students how to use essential oils to achieve remarkable results on physical, mental and emotional levels.

A variety of teaching methods will be used to ensure a stimulating and enjoyable course. The material will be covered in a very practical as well as theoretical level to ensure students complete the course feeling confident, knowledgeable and ready to start a satisfying and successful business or career.

The Aromatherapy Course includes a DVD with a demonstration of a full body Aromatherapy Massage

The course includes

• Detailed study of 41 essential oils as well as a range of carrier oils including the therapeutic properties, practical applications and contraindications. Students will be taught how to use essential oils for a variety of physical and emotional complaints, for beauty and skincare as well as for maintaining health and vitality

• A full body Aromatherapy massage including advanced techniques of lymphatic drainage and pressure points as well as the classical massage movements. Posture and pressure will be stressed to ensure self-care of the therapist and to give each client a massage tailored to their individual requirements.

• Aftercare, including advising clients of methods of home use of essential oils, is a vital part of the course.

• Client care and consultation skills will be taught to a high standard to ensure an excellent treatment for all clients, instil confidence in the therapist and give a professional image thereby encouraging referrals and helping to build a successful business or career.

• Practical and proven business building methods will be taught to help students who wish to set up their own practice

This is a practical fun day on which each student will make a take home a range of skincare products with essential oil including cleanser/moisturiser, skin toner, lip balm and more. The properties and benefits of ingredients including olive oil, floral waters, aloe vera gel, and beeswax will be covered. Lotions and Potions is unique to the Healing House and not part of the examination syllabus. However it allows students to use what they've learned on a practical and fun way.    

Subtle Aromatherapy

The body/mind/spirit connection is an important part of all the Healing House Diploma courses. The aromatherapy diploma course will include

•  Healing techniques, the aura and the chakra system
• Subtle aromatherapy-how essential oils affect us on a spiritual/energy level and how to use essential oils as part of a healing/Reiki treatment.

While the Aromatherapy course is open to beginners, students must achieve an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology and pass the ITEC Professional Conduct and Business Awareness Module or hold equivalent qualifications. These courses are available in the Healing House and may be taken concurrently with, or separately from the Aromatherapy course.

Aromatherapy will be held from 10.30am to 5pm on the following twelve Saturdays

April 14th; May 5th, 12th & 26th;  June 9th & 23rd; July 7th & 21st; August 4th & 18th; September 1st & 15th.

Students will sit a multiple choice theory paper and a practical exam at the end of the course. They are also required to submit 40 case studies (10 clients each to receive 4 aromatherapy full body massages)
