Door Security

Purpose  To provide an excellent foundation for work, as it satisfies the minimum training requirements, determined by the Private Security Industry, for the licensing of individuals working within the Door Security sector of the security industry. 

This course is designed for personnel working or wishing to work within the Event Management sector of the security industry such as:

  • Door Security Personnel
  • Concerts
  • Licensed Premises
  • Sporting Events
  •  Crowd Control

SecuritySkills (Guarding)

Purpose  To provide participants with an introductory understanding of practical security duties and procedures particularly those working in mainstream and retail security.  Satisfactory completion of this course meets with the licensing requirements of the security industry induction training within the Guarding Services Standard IS999:2004 

This is the mandatory training requirement if you are applying to The Private Security Authority for a licence to work in any of the following:

  • Retail Security
  • Event Security (not liquor-licensed premises)
  • Airport Security
  • Hospital Security
  •  Building Site / Construction Security

Information Technology

Purpose: To provide learners with an understanding of the computer and its uses.  Learners will be taught in a relaxed manner using the latest advances in technology to help them gain confidence as they explore data entry, word processing and internet applications.

  

Refresher - Occupational First Aid

Purpose: This is a one-day course that reinforces knowledge and practise of the essentials of Occupational First Aid, including CPR and AED. Occupational First Aiders must do a refresher course every two years to familiarise themselves with developments in first aid practice and update seldom used skills.  To participate students must hold a current FETAC Occupational First Aid D20188 Level 5 qualification. 

Introduction to the Internet

Purpose To show people how to search for  information on the internet and to send and receive emails, download digital photographs and save documents to their computer.  The terms and technology used in relation to the internet will cease to mystify as participants work their way through this user-friendly six-unit course.

Life Skills

PurposeTo help people communicate in social, vocational and learning situations. Successful candidates will be able to communicate effectively and appropriately.  

Office Procedures

Purpose  To provide participants with knowledge of the role of the office in different organisations.  Participants who successfully complete this course are equipped to gain employment in an office based environment. 

Computer literacy

Purpose  To introduce beginners to the everyday use of computers.  Participants will acquire knowledge of the basic elements of hardware and software involved in using computers.   

Bookkeeping Manual and Computerised

Purpose  To provide learners with an introduction to manual bookkeeping terms and principles, and the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a computerised accounts system using an integrated accounts package.  The learner will be able to complete accounts to trial balance.  TAS Books, used in this course, is one of the most up to date accounts packages in Ireland.
