Reflexology Diploma Course

ITEC Diploma in Reflexology

ITEC DIPLOMA IN REFLEXOLOGY, ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY

Course Details

Reflexology is an alternative therapy involving the practice of massaging or applying pressure to parts of the feet and hands, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.

This natural healing art is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body.

The ITEC Diploma in Reflexology comprises the following ITEC units:

  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Reflexology

  • Professional Conduct and Business Awareness

All the units are mandatory.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The candidate will study the theory of all treatments, and will cover the Anatomy & Physiology of the whole body within the Anatomy & Physiology unit. Also a vital part of their training is the underpinning knowledge and skills required to successfully perform a Reflexology treatment.

Candidates will be required to successfully complete a number of case studies for this award.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROGRESSION

Once candidates have achieved their ITEC Diploma in Reflexology they may progress on to other ITEC or equivalent awards, for example:

  • Indian Head Massage

  • Holistic Massage

  • Reflexology for Pregnancy

  • Reflexology for Infants

This award qualifies graduates to operate their own clinic or home visiting practice. Graduates can also gain employment in Salons, Health Club, Health Farms, Spas and Liners, the HSE and various aspects of the Care Industry in Ireland.

Professional indemnity and public liability insurance can be obtained via The Complementary Therapists Association (CthA) and other Industry Associations who recognise the ITEC Diploma.

RECOMMENDED PRIOR LEARNING

It is recommended that candidates should have achieved a level of education equivalent to the Leaving Certificate to commencing the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology.

However, exemptions may be made for adult returners with experience of the work place.
