Responding to Physical Attack

This course design addresses requirements in a range of environments where staff may be at risk of physical attack as the result of the nature of their employment. This includes traffic wardens, clampers, hotel receptionist and night porters, security staff, hospital accident and emergency staff, psychiatric care workers, state services, environmental officers, caretakers, bus and taxi drivers and any other environment where a risk of attack or assault exists. Particular emphasis on course design is also placed on Health and Safety risks associated with lone workers.

The course will enable candidates acquire practical skills and knowledge in early recognition, initial reaction, responding to a physical attack and restraint techniques (where appropriate). The course content can be tailored to a degree to include issues which staff may encounter as part of their specific duties.
