Question

A UK registered charity wants to donate money to an Irish registered charity.  Is there any reason why they shouldn't or any pitfalls of which to be aware? Thanks, Jean

We do not believe that that

We do not believe that that there is any issue or pitfall. The Wheel has received funding from UK charities before (e.g. Carnegie Trust), and it's a straight dontation to the Irish Charity. The question of us potentially reclaiming the tax paid on the gift obviously is not relevant in this case as a) it's an organisation, not an individual and b) the UK charity does not pay taxes in Ireland, therefore it's a moot point.

As with all grants both asked for and given, this too should have appropriate paper work requesting the grant with an appropriate budget. The UK charity should insist on appropriate reporting and accounting for the money. All normal stuff.
