Question

Hi, a colleague and myself are starting up a community childcare facility for school aged children. We are both social care worker and are not trained in business. We have the knowledge, skills, premises etc and now we are looking for some advice on the procedure for setting up a not for profit organisation? We plan to be paid a wage and the rest of the money will go into the afterschool club. We hope to obtain some funding once we are up and running and we hope to be included in a subvention scheme for subsidised fees. We plan to charge parents as low an amount as possible for the service. Thanks for any help you can give,

Jenny

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for your question.

The 'Forming Your Charity' area of our website is the best starting point for anyone in the process of setting up a new charity. You can access it here: http://www.wheel.ie/you-and-your-organisation/forming-your-charity

I would recommend that you get stuck into the various articles contained in the link above. You can also find useful resources, including funding related, in the rest of our You and Your Organisation section here: http://www.wheel.ie/you-and-your-organisation

Finally, if you have any specific questions that arise out of any of this material, please feel free to post them below or as a new Sector Connector question (we will be notified about them either way).
