Would you like to provide young people with an opportunity to volunteer abroad or volunteer abroad yourself?

With high youth unemployment figuresEuropean Voluntary Service (EVS) provides young people with an opportunity to build experience and skills for their future and enhance their employability. This programme is available to all those aged 18-30 to volunteer throughout for a period of 2-12 months (shorter durations are available for young people with fewer opportunities). Funding is available to cover costs related to sending and supporting a volunteer (a lump sum to cover preparation of the volunteer as well as ongoing support and communication throughout the placement, 90% of the cost of the volunteers travel). In 2011-2012 projects sending volunteers will be prioritised for funding.

EVScarries benefits both for the young person(s) and the organisation itself. The new skills and international experience gained by a volunteer can be brought back to the organisation in order to transfer learning. EVS can help organisations meet the core principles of the new National Quality Standards Framework(NQSF) in youth work as it young person centred, educational and developmental and will lead to the provision of quality youth work.

So even if you have never considered European Voluntary Service previously for your organisation now is the perfect time to become a sending organisation.
