Notice

Volunteer Centres Ireland (VCI) is the national volunteer centre with a vision for an Irish society in which everyone who wants to, has access to volunteering opportunities that are fulfilling and engaging, and which contribute to the development of community and the betterment of society.  We are a representative body, support agency, and membership organisation for a growing number of local volunteer centres in Ireland, currently 21.

As a VCI initiative, the National Day of Volunteering is that one day of the year where everyone in Ireland is encouraged to give volunteering a go, to show that - even for a minute, an hour, a day - volunteering can make a big differenct and be a lot of fun.  The National Day of Volunteering belongs to everyone, no matter who you are or where you live.  Whether it's painting a community hall, giving blood, coaching a local sports team, or committing a random act of volunteering, everyone has something to offer.  Volunteering benefits everyone and makes us stronger.

Now in its fourth year, the National Day of Volunteering 2010 will take place on Friday, 1st October.  It promises to be bigger than ever, building on the success of last year when more than 4,000 people got involved, volunteering in more than 170 projects across the 26 counties.  This year, we are going to double participation and really make a difference to communities all across Ireland.  For more information about the VCI and the National Day of Volunteering, visit our website at www.volunteer.ie or email us at nationaldayofvolunteering@gmail.com.
