New Research Project: Connecting with the Internet?
Declan Tuite, lecturer in multimedia at DCU is looking for people who have begun to use the Internet in the last 2/3 years to tell him about how they use the internet and other technology like mobile phones to stay in touch with their friends and family.
The research looks at how people have taken computer skills and skills on how to use the internet to stay connected with others and even make new connections.
The title of the research is:
'the unanticipated effects of ICT and Internet use on Social Capital'
The interviews can be done wherever suits you and at a time that works for you. Declan will be asking questions about how you stay in contact with others and which types of media you use depending on the situation.
- Maybe how you stay in contact with family or friends.
- Maybe how you keep up to date with hobbies or a group you are part of.
- Maybe how you made new friends.
The interviews: Interviews will last about 30- 40 minutes.
