The Challenges Of Sensory Processing Disorders in Children


 


A leading expert on sensory processing disorders in children, Genevieve Jereb, an Australian occupational therapist will be in Ireland this October to present her one day workshop entitled "The Traffic Jam In My Brain" Participants will gain an understanding of the basics of sensory processing and learn ready-to-use strategies to help support learning, attention, social and emotional relationships and behaviour in children.The day is aimed at helping people who work with children who have sensory processing difficulties to learn more about the challenges associated with sensory processing disorders. 


 


This presentation is designed for therapists, teachers, parents, caregiver and other professionals who are interested in understanding the fundamentals of sensory processing and its impect of attention, behaviour, social engagement, creative thinking, purpose driven play and learning. Genevieve Jereb offers practical and powerful tools to help support children "to learn and thrive from the inside out" . Ms. Jereb will address who sensory processing difficulties affect many children, both with and without the diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorders, Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, learning challenges and other developmental and neurological challenges.


 


This fun, informative and interactive workshop is being brought to Ireland by Sensational Kids, a registered charity that provides subsidised occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and psychology services for children of all abilities. All proceeds from workshops run by Sensational Kids are ploughed back into the charity to help fund therapy services for children.

The Traffic Jam In My Brain is presented by international speaker, Genevieve Jereb who is a pediatric occupational therapist who resides in Sydney, Australia having spent ten years in the USA. She presents on sensory processing disorders worldwide. Gen's work has been greatly influenced by the work of Patricia Wilbarger, Dr Julia Wilbarger, Patricia Oetter, Eileen Richter, and Carol Stock Kranowitz. Gen Jereb still returns to the USA every year to volunteer at "Camp Avanti" a leading-edge camp, for children wit sensory processing disorders. She "keeps it real" and this comes accross in her practical, fun and informative workshops.
