The Community Foundation for Ireland (CFI) are looking for nominations for the 2010 Philanthropist of the Year Awards. In the first three years, CFI have had eight winners - six men and two women. Maybe the following joke explains that:
Little Johnny says…"When I grow up, I want to become a philanthropist!" His mother replied, "Why Johnny, that's wonderful." "Yeah," Johnny responded, "they all seem to have lots of money."
On a more serious note, these awards are a great way to promote the benefits of philanthropy, if you nominate the winner, it can help generate great PR for your charity (national and regional newspaper coverage, RTE News and RTE’s Nationwide last year) and of course it gives you an opportunity to say thank you to your donors.
