X-HALE Youth Awards Calls for Expressions of Interest

2012 was a hugely successful year for X-HALE and the Irish Cancer Society. There were 14 X-HALE groups awarded in 2012 from seven counties across the country.

X-HALE AwardsAll 14 groups created short films which were entered in the X-HALE Youth Awards Film Premier which took place in the Lighthouse Cinema on the 30 October, 2012.

The event was attended by 200 young people and their youth leaders and 16 awards given out on the day. In the build-up to the event all 14 films were posted online and an online poll was launched. Over 4,600 votes were recorded with the youth group RESIN from Limerick winning the “Most popular online film”. 

Foróige Knocknacarra from Galway were the recipients of the “People’s Choice Award” as voted by the 200+ audience on the day.

For 2013 X-HALE will be launching a short film competition with a focus on a number of specific topics about smoking. At this point X-HALE is looking for youth groups to register their interest now.

Deadline for expressions of interest: 14 December, 2012

X-HALE is also interested in youth organisations who want to develop resources to share with other young people in their community to make sure that young people are well informed to make the right decision for their health.
