Philanthropy Ireland Appoints New Executive Director

Seamus Mulconry, formerly the Director of Public Affairs for Edelman Dublin has been appointed as Executive Director of Philanthropy Ireland. Seamus will take up his new role on the 17th of January 2011, and will be responsible for the delivery of Philanthropy Ireland’s new strategy.
 
During his time with Edelman, Mr. Mulconry worked with a diverse range of clients including Musgrave, National Irish Bank, and Discover Science and Engineering. Seamus is also a former Director of Policy for the Progressive Democrats, and former Strategy Manager for Accenture where he specialised in public policy issues and worked with the Departments of the Taoiseach, Social Protection, Health and Children,  as well as with the UNDP. Seamus is a member of the Board of Headway Ireland, and the executive Board of the Institute of International and European Affairs.
 
He has also campaigned for improved rights for refugees, improved resources for suicide prevention and a national strategy for rare diseases. Seamus was also the Director of Communications for the Alliance for Europe in the second Nice Referendum.
