Legacy Seminar in Dublin on 17 February

The European Association of Planned Giving (EAPG) are back in town with another fundraising seminar, this time on how to jump-start your legacy program. This discussion seminar will be led by Jan Jennings Cailleux, who has directed planned giving for environmental organisations, hospitals, and museums on both sides of the Atlantic.

EAPG Dublin Seminar – Tuesday 17 February 2009
9.15am welcome for 9.30am-12.30pm discussion.

“Only in growth, reform, and change, paradoxically enough, is true security." — Ann Morrow Lindbergh

Topics for discussion in this seminar will include:

  • Legacies and planned gifts: What is “planned giving”? What are types of legacies and “planned gifts” and how do they work, highlighting examples from the US compared to the UK?
  • Challenges for promoting legacies: What are the challenges of promoting legacies? How does the culture of philanthropy in the UK differ from that of the USA, and how does this affect fundraisers and donors? How much of a role do tax incentives play?
  • Identifying prospects and promoting legacies: What are appropriate goals? How do you identify prospects? What are the most effective types of marketing vehicles? Why is good stewardship so important? How do you promote legacies through people?
  • Interactive “Show & Tell”: Attendees will be asked to bring a marketing piece and/or a description of their best stewardship practice to share with colleagues.
