Important information about imminent & crucial CRA deadline

The Wheel would like to remind community, voluntary and charitable organisations of a very important and imminent regulatory deadline.

Every organisation with a CHY number must complete its registration with the warningCharities Regularity Authority (CRA) by this coming Saturday, 16 April 2016. From that date onwards it will be an offence to operate without being fully registered with the CRA.

It is very important to note that you are not deemed fully registered with the CRA unless you have:

A)  completed all the compulsory fields in the Register of Charities,
B)  AND pressed the "submit" button on the form.

Saturday, 16 April is also the deadline for submitting the first annual report to the CRA.

The Wheel strongly recommends that orgnaisations check if they have indeed completed the registration process and submitted their first reports.

It is important to note that organisations that do not have CHY numbers, may still be required to register. This document (PDF) explains the criteria.

Each individual organisation is reponsible for complying with these requirements, and The Wheel urges orgnaisations to do so in order to protect their your own and the wider sector's reputation.

If you have any questions relating to this issue, please contact the CRA directly on Tel: 01-633 1500, or visit their website at www.charitiesregulatoryauthority.ie.
