CEO Breakfast Briefing organised by The Wheel
When: 11th December 2008 (Time: 7:45 am-9.15am. Registration from 7:30am.)
Where: Wynns Hotel, 35 Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1
Dennis OConnor, Managing Director of 2into3, will present the findings of his report, Fundraising in a Cold Climate at the next CEO Breakfast Briefing on Thursday, 11 December.
Dennis will also discuss:
- why some non-profit organisations are more recession proof then others
- how the recession is likely to impact on these organisations
- some recommendations for survival
The paper suggests that in times of crises and market turbulence, the non profit-sector has proven surprisingly resilient.
From the fall of France in World War II through to the impact of 9/11 the report finds, with one exception, in declining markets donations increased from between 4% and 46%. Meanwhile in 2002 when the Standards & Poor index dropped by 23%, philanthropy actually increased by 1%.
The report also looks at economic trends and philanthropic giving over a 40 year period and found that once adjusted for inflation, donations on average drop by merely 0.7% during times of recession.
