Foras na Gaeilge schemes open

Foras na Gaeilge provides funding for groups, organisations and individuals supporting the everyday use of the Irish language and is the body responsible for the promotion of the Irish language throughout the whole island of Ireland.

Foras na Gaeilge is welcoming applications for the following 2 schemes:

  • Scheme for Irish Language Summer Camps for Young People Outside of the Gaeltacht
  • Youth Scheme : Events through the medium of Irish for young people

Summer Camps
Foras na Gaeilge welcomes applications for funding from groups to organise Summer Camps through the medium of Irish outside of the Gaeltacht. These summer camps should aim to strengthen Irish language by organising suitable activities (e.g. computers, crafts, drama, music, local history, storytelling and all sports to name but a few) through the medium of Irish. The maximum amount of funding is up to €5,000 or £3,500.

The closing date for applications is 12 midday, Friday 14 March 2008

Youth Schemes
Foras na Gaeilge welcomes applications for funding from groups to run events for young people through the medium of Irish outside of the Gaeltacht between September 2008 and June 2009. Those events should create opportunities for young people to use the language by running suitable activities similar to those mentioned in the Summer Camps scheme once again via the medium of Irish. The maximum amount of funding is up to €5,000 or £3,500.

Applications for summer camps, festivals or competitions will not be accepted under this scheme.

The closing date for this scheme is 12 midday, Friday 4 April 2008.
