European Year of Citizens 2013 Alliance Seminar to Address Social Exclusion

Volonteurope, a European network promoting active citizenship, volunteering and social inclusion, and member of the European Year of Citizens 2013 Alliance, is organising a seminar entitled 'Active Citizens Combating Social Exclusion'. The event, organised in partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Ireland and supported by a range of institutional and civil society partners, is being delivered in the framework of the European Year of Citizens 2013. It will gather input from experts from around Europe on how citizens, many of them volunteers, get actively involved in promoting mental health well-being, supporting active ageing, working with the most vulnerable members of the society, as well as preventing school dropout amongst young people. The case studies presented at the seminar will stimulate a debate on active citizenship and volunteering acting as mechanisms for preventing social exclusion in Europe's communities.

The event takes place on Monday 11 February 2013, 09:30-12:30, at European Public Space, European Union House, 18 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.

A full programme of this free seminar is attached. Spaces are still available and if you would like to attend and contribute to the debate, please send your name and organisation that you are representing to
