Europe for Citizens Training Day in Tullamore this September
On 25th September 2008, the Institute for Public Administration (IPA) will be running a free training day for local authorities, town twinning committees and NGOs on funding opportunities for international projects under the Europe for Citizens programme.
The training day is due to take place in the Tullamore Court Hotel in Co. Offaly.
The Europe for Citizens programme aims to encourage active European citizenship and promote intercultural dialogue in Europe. NGOs, whether at local, regional, national or European level, can apply for funding for cooperation projects with other organisations across Europe.
Several different types of funding are available:
- Operating grants to strength the capacity of European public policy research organisations (think tanks), which are able to provide new ideas and reflections on European issues, on active European citizenship or on European values.
- Operating grants to support the emergence of a structured, coherent and active civil society at European level. To this end, funding is available to contribute to the running of NGOs working on European-related issues.
- Funding for cooperation projects with NGOs across Europe, focusing on issues of common interest and on the concrete solutions that can be found through cooperation or coordination at European level. Examples of such projects include seminars, public discussion fora, workshops and joint publications.
