Department of CEGA: what's gone to where?
Since the formation of a new Government we know that the Department of Community Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs is to be broken up and its functions moved to a variety of other Departments. Some details are still to be worked out, but here’s what we know for certain:
The following divisions are being transferred to the new Department of the Environment:
- Community and Local Development
- Community and Voluntary Supports
- National Rural Development Schemes
- Rural Recreation and Waterways Ireland
- EU Rural Development

- Traveller Policy
The following divisions are being transferred to the new Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht
- Gaeltacht Policy and Improvement Schemes
- Islands
- Irish language Policy and Udaras na Gaeltachta
- Central Translations Unit and Placenemes
The following division is being transferred to the Department of Social Protection
- Social Inclusion and Family Policy
The following division is being transferred to the new Department of Health
- Drugs Misuse
