The Community Foundation Launches 2nd Round of Caring Communities Grants

The Community Foundation for Ireland has just announced the 2nd round of their new Caring Communities grant strategy. There are four distinct thematic categories in this round, as detailed below.

  1. In LGBT Communities, an area which has long been supported by The Community Foundation, these grants will support organisations working with LGBT Communities to build capacity within their organisations and thus the LGBT sector as a whole. Projects must demonstrate that such actions will have wider benefits and tangible outcomes for the sector.

  2. Older People is also an area which The Foundation has supported for many years. In this instance the grants will support groups working with Older People and are specifically targeted at projects which will provide the opportunity to engage older people in advocacy roles and active citizenship.

  3. Emergency Respite Care grants will continue to support groups working with Family Carers by providing for emergency and out of hours respite, not currently provided by the state.

  4. Youth Unemployment is an area which The Foundation has not funded directly before. Grants will be made to a small number of applicants who can clearly demonstrate that they will engage with hard to reach young people who are not in training, employment and/or education in order to address youth unemployment.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday, 28 June.

As the aim of Caring Communities is to fund innovative and replicable projects which will encourage shared learning and create models of work for peers, priority will be given to applicants who can clearly demonstrate that this can be achieved. Capital, Core or ongoing costs such as rent, salaries and the main work of an organisation will not be supported. Additionally, any successful applicants will be encouraged to network with other grantees directly and to report on progress as well as being required to participate in a learning event in early 2014.

Full Criteria and Application cover sheets are available at www.communityfoundation.ie

Application is by email (Word attachment) only to info@foundation.ie. The closing date is 5pm on Friday, 28 June.
