Carmichael Centre Announces Autumn Fundraising Training Schedule
The opportunities for getting your fundraising skills up to speed continue with news that the Carmichael Centre will be running a series of expertly run training courses this autumn covering a selection of key fundraising issues.
The Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups is a centre for small voluntary organisations. The principal objective of the Centre is to nurture and support the development of small voluntary groups, providing an environment which stimulates this development.
To this end, the Carmichael has designed the following courses to enable more effective and successful fundraising within the Irish Community and Voluntary Sector:
Incorporating Codes of Fundraising PracticeDate: 10am – 4pm on the 18th September
Trainer: Siobhan McGee
Target Audience
Does your organisation engage in fundraising? Perhaps you are planning on conducting fundraising activities in the future? Are you aware of current codes of fundraising practice?
Content
This course is suitable for those involved in fundraising in either a fulltime capacity or as part of their role. In partnership with key practitioners in fundraising, this course acts as a guide through the relevant codes of fundraising practice. This is in preparation for the Charity Regulation Bill.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Understand current fundraising codes
- Incorporate fundraising codes into existing fundraising practice
- Identify areas for adjustment in order to comply with the Charity Regulation Bill 2007
- Incorporate fundraising codes into existing fundraising policies and procedures
Step by Step Guide to Fundraising Date: 10am – 4pm on the 8th & 9th October
Trainer: Trevor Gill & Alice Garrad
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Understand the context for fundraising
- Understand the 9 key steps to writing a fundraising strategy
- Develop a case for support
- Explore external and internal factors which impact on fundraising
- Consider and select funding sources and methods
- Assess the resources needed for successful fundraising
- Design a workable fundraising strategy
Reseaching & Securing Grant Aid Date: 10am – 4pm on the 23rd October
Trainer: Trevor Gill
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Identify the main sources of information on funders (printed and web based)
- Identify trends common to many funders e.g. the need for applicants to clearly define the needs they are meeting, value for money, sustainability, etc.
- Identify the main reasons why grant applications fail
- Work through the main questions on an example funding application form and identify the type of information that funders are looking for
- Learn how to build longer term relationships with funders
