Arthur Guinness Projects Initiative Launched

The Arthur Guinness Projects is a major new initiative designed to champion the best of Irish creators, thinkers, doers and makers in the areas of Arts, Music, Sport and Food by offering support and funding to the winning entries.

The Arthur Guinness Projects replaces the previous Arthur Guinness Fund (which provided funding to social enterprise initatives). The new Projects initiative is looking for extraordinary people with innovative, inspiring, and brilliant ideas, and the passion and drive to make them happen.

The winning ideas in each category will be awarded a bursary of up to €50,000, as well as invaluable advice and mentoring to help you turn your dream into reality. The most popular ideas will be shortlisted by the public, so make sure to encourage your friends and family to vote by sharing your project on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.

Where Community Groups Come In

The Arthur Guinness Projects is seeking bold ideas from individuals. But those ideas could well have a direct and positive impact on the wider community too. For example, imagine an idea for a community recording studio (under the Music category); or an idea for a table tennis hang-out spot in your area (under the Sport category); or perhaps an idea for local craft workshops in the traditional arts (under the Arts category); or, even an idea to provide homeless people with a second chance by training them in the culinary arts (which is just one fantastic idea already submitted under the Food category).

The deadline for submitting your big idea is 9 August, 2013. But the sooner you submit, the more momentum your idea will be able to gather!

How It Works

Projects can be submitted online from the 26 June until 9 August 2013. The public will be able to vote for their favourite ideas until voting ends on 23 August, after which the top 10% of projects will be submitted to our panel of industry experts for judging. If your idea doesn't make it through the public vote, you have one final lifeline, as the panel of experts can choose to award up to four wildcards annually.

The Arthur Guinness Projects Panel will choose the overall winning projects and provide mentoring and support to the winners. It comprises 16 well-known industry experts, 4 from each category of Arts, Music, Sport, and Food.
