Agencies meet to discuss Ryan Report

RTÉ  reports that a number of agencies are meeting in Dublin today to discuss the impact of the Ryan Report on the first anniversary of its publication.

Eight child protection organisations will gather to see what developments, if any, have been made in the past year and whether survivors of abuse have been given access to services and supports they need.

The report of the Commission, chaired by Judge Seán Ryan, detailed cases of physical and sexual abuse suffered by children under the care of religious orders in State-run institutions from 1936 onwards.

Last year, the Government agreed to implement the 20 recommendations made by the Commission.

The Dublin Rape Crisis will be among a number of agencies offering a counselling service today through its helpline number 1800 77 88 88.
