Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys TD said: “Since 2011, the money provided by my Department for the Music Capital Scheme has aided a wide range of groups, including youth bands, choirs, orchestras and traditional music groups to purchase musical instruments. Ireland is renowned for the wealth of our musical talent and it is important that we continue to nurture our musicians and to aid them in improving their performing ability. I am delighted to announce capital funding of €210,000 for the Music Capital Scheme in 2014 and I wish all of the applicants the very best of luck.”

Commenting on the announcement, Music Network CEO, Sharon Rollston said: “Music Network is delighted to once again manage the Music Capital Scheme in 2014. Since its inception in 2008, 163 awards have been made to professional musicians and to organisations working with non-professional musicians, reinforcing Music Network’s mission to make live music happen in Ireland. We are very grateful to the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht for its continued support of this valuable scheme.”
