Novas Initiatives
Volunteers Required for Street Outreach Programme.

Novas Initiatives are a voluntary body providing services to homeless people in Limerick, Dublin, Kerry and Tipperary. In late November a group of volunteers in Limerick City was organised to provide food, hot drinks and support to people not currently accessing any homeless services. This was initially provided on a Tuesday night and was recently expanded to a Sunday night also. We now wish to develop the service to provide additional supports to people who use the service. It is now hoped to provide more nights that the soup run is available, meaning more volunteers are needed.

Novas Initiatives currently run a Soup Run in Limerick City on Tuesday and Sunday nights from 7pm until 9pm. Volunteers are required to participate in the provision of this service. The minimum commitment is 2/3 hours per calendar month. The service involves providing food, hot drinks and support to people who are sleeping rough on the city streets. Where possible, contact will be made with the hostels in the city or the Out of Hours service in order to secure accommodation. Monthly feedback sessions will be held with all volunteers to discuss suggestions and training needs.
