Friends of the Elderly Ireland, working to alleviate loneliness and isolation amongst elderly people, is seeking applications for the position of Manager for their Dublin Centre based at 25 Bolton Street, Dublin 1.

Post Details

As Manager you will be responsible to the Board for the management and development of Friends of the Elderly Ireland, to ensure efficient running in accordance with our policies, practices and financial structures.

In this post, together with your Administrative Assistant, you will be responsible for:

Overseeing effective resource planning, performance reporting, budgeting and financial management, and internal accounting records. Ensuring accurate record keeping on the CRM system. Delegating as appropriate to staff;

Leading, developing and overseeing all operations. Coordinating, supervising, supporting, and motivating staff and volunteers. Recruitment, Training, Management and Support of volunteers;

Assessing and developing a social programme for older people referred to our services. Organising and co-ordinating regular and occasional social events. Supporting and advocating for older persons in our programmes;

Developing close working relationships with stake holders including Government Departments, local community groups and external agencies regarding Friends of the Elderly Ireland services;

Leading and developing an intergenerational schools/college programme;

Actively promoting the work of Friends of the Elderly Ireland though public talks, media campaigns and on social media;

Reviewing, leading and implementing innovative ways to continuously improvethe operational aspects of Friends of the Elderly Ireland;

Managing risk and addressing corporate governance matters under the direction of the Board.

Responsible to

The Manager reports to the Board of Directors of Friends of the Elderly Ireland.

The Person

The successful candidate will have substantial administrative experience and capabilities, excellent interpersonal and team management skills, and a good understanding of the issues surrounding older people in Ireland. Knowledge of the social services sector would be an advantage.
