With homelessness already on the rise across Ireland and with homeless agencies already under strain, outrage is today being expressed over the massive cuts - amounting to some €300m - to social housing provision for 2011.
Factor in the €400m cuts to various HSE bodies that provide additional services to the homeless and you have the makings of a disaster on your hands.
