Community and Voluntary Pillar to Host Pre-Budget Briefings

The members of the Community and Voluntary Pillar in social partnership are arranging pre-budget briefings for members of the Oireachtas and the media in September and October. Everyone will be aware of the attention now being focussed on whether government attempts to secure the planned €3 billion adjustment in Budget 2011 through expenditure cutbacks, increasing the tax-take or a mixture of both. The members of the Pillar will be focussing attention on our 5 Point Plan for National Recovery which advocates that we need to broaden and widen the tax base and increase the tax take if we are to protect vulnerable people during the recovery - and that if the €3 billion adjustment is secured through expenditure cutting alone then it is vulnerable people who will pay the price of recovery, as the public services they depend on are cut.  

The media briefing will take place on the morning of Tuesday, 7 September in Buswells Hotel and all are welcome. Notices will be sent out closer to the date.
