backups

How often should back-ups be performed for our organisation?

"How often should back ups of our computer data be performed for our organisation? We have five PCs on our internal network working off a main PC."

A back-up is a fail-safe: a snapshot in time to which you can safely return in the event of a disaster, whereupon all of your data is restored and your business can continue with a minimum of downtime.

Back-ups should be a regular part of your business continuity plans, as in the event of a fire, insurance can purchase a new premises or new computers, but cannot replace years of lost work.  Your back-up is your lifeline in the event of a disaster.
